Job DescriptionThis position provides confidential executive assistance and managerial support to the Special Operations Division (SOD) Commander and command staff. Interprets superior's views and relates frequently to persons in the general public, Michigan State Police, and other governmental contacts. Coordinates division-wide administrative support tasks and provides leadership to other section secretaries in the performance of their assigned duties. Serves as liaison for the Division Commander regarding transactions with the Human Resources Division. Serves as the division focal point for matters involving the preparation of forms and presentation materials for meetings. Composes and prepares correspondence, compile confidential reports, and maintain filing system. Manage office operations for the Special Operations Division Headquarters.Position Description The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.Required Education and ExperienceEducationEducation typically acquired through completion of high school.ExperienceSix years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including three years equivalent to an advanced, 8-level, administrative support worker, Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8; two years equivalent to a Secretary 9, Legal Secretary 9, or Senior Executive Management Assistant 9; or, one year equivalent to the Division Head Legal Secretary 10 or Executive Secretary E10.Alternate Education and ExperiencePossession of an associate's degree in applied arts and sciences in an executive secretarial science curriculum may be substituted for one year as a Secretary 9.Additional Requirements and InformationThis position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check , and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
