Job Summary As a Hydro Engineer, you will work with and provide direct support of the Hydro Operations and Maintenance crews. As such, frequent travel to the Hydro sites will be required. You will also be a leader in the Dam Safety Program under the direction of the Chief Engineer.Job Responsibilities
Prepare complex engineering designs, construction and material specifications and project schedules, design and implementation of material and equipment evaluation methods.
Prepare feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses of proposed projects, and review of third party construction plans.
Lead complex Root Cause Analysis activities and perform peer checks on Root Cause Analyses.
Update drawings and other engineering documentation and maintain corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.
Utilize performance monitoring tools and perform engineering analysis to develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant system and equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.
Participate in long-term budget process for capital projects. Select alternatives for projects based on the results of technical, economic and regulatory analyses.
Prepare RFP's, coordinate the evaluation process and provide recommendation.
Perform contract administration and construction inspections for complex multidisciplinary projects.
Lead FERC Dam Safety compliance activities
Lead project teams on moderately complex assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Relevant engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Previous experience with dam safety monitoring and surveillance.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or able to obtain a PE within 2 years
Demonstrated strong report writing skills
