Job SummaryOperates nuclear detection and imaging equipment and prepares radiopharmaceuticals for routine nuclear radiologic studies, to produce images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Completes work in an independent, professional manner with minimal supervision and assists in and facilitates employee development.Essential Functions

Operates nuclear detection, imaging, and computer processing equipment for nuclear radiologic studies by following professional, hospital and regulatory protocols to provide physicians with diagnostic images utilized to identify and / or plan appropriate patient treatment.

Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures for preparation of kits and intravenous (IV) injection of agents to ensure accurate diagnostic testing and/or imaging. Monitors and records radiation levels in hot lab, scan room, storage areas and patient rooms. Adheres to standards for radiation safety and for appropriate waste separation and disposal of radioactive agents by performing specific governmental mandates.

Maintains imaging, hot lab, radiopharmaceuticals and processing equipment by performing quality control tests and checking equipment performance and quality of agents administered in accordance with department and regulation standards to ensure patient safety. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment. Fills out all forms thoroughly, completes all tasks in computerized medical record system and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Required Associate's Degree Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field

Preferred Bachelor's Degree Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field

2 years of relevant experience in nuclear medicine Required

CRT-Computerized Tomography (CT) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Excludes Vascular Sites Upon Hire preferred

CRT-Nuc Med Technologist (N) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required Or

CRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Upon Hire required And

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
