About the Unit 6 and 8 Center at Butterworth Hospital are secure units with 20 private beds on each that specialize in Women and Infant Services, specifically postpartum care of Mother Baby couplets, after labor and delivery. The average length of postpartum patient stay here is 2-3 days. The excellent care provided by the 110 members of our Nursing and Support Team within Postpartum, provides team members and patients with memories that last a lifetime. We're here to guide parents through this transitional period, offering assistance, education, and support every step of the way. At least 1 prior year of direct patient care experience in a hospital or clinic setting is strongly preferred.Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals, support during circumcisions, some lab pokes on newborns, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
