Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering & Environmental Services (EES) Business Unit (BU) Manager to oversee and lead our business unit of 75 professionals located MI, OH, TN and WI, focused on environmental and geotechnical engineering services in federal and non-federal markets. The selected BU Manager will lead the EES BU, ensuring external contractual obligations and internal performance commitments are fulfilled. The BU Manager is expected to establish and manage customer and business partner industry relationships while creating new capabilities and increasing market share in new markets or white space opportunities. The selected candidate must demonstrate highly ethical performance and behavior that is conducive to professional growth, employee engagement, and continuous staff development.

This job can be in one of our three offices: Farmington Hills, Akron, OH or Oak Ridge, TN

Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic planning of the business unit.

Providing project oversight and ensuring the successful execution of environmental and geotechnical engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.

Participating in program planning activities such as: the negotiating contract and contract changes and coordinating and preparing proposals, business plans, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.

Establishing and maintaining quality control processes and procedures ensuring compliance with Corporate and Client-specific QA requirements for all work performed.

Working with line and Business Development leadership to develop and implement a growth strategy.

Developing new business opportunities and expanding on contract growth services with existing customers.

Engaging with customer contacts to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Implementing talent management initiatives to support retention, skills development, and critical capabilities to sustain/grow programs and recruitment activities.

Providing leadership and vision to employees, motivating them to strive for excellence, achievement of program and portfolio objectives, and instill a culture of customer service and personal accountability.

Qualifications:

Current professional license or certification in discipline - e.g. PE, PG, CEM

A STEM bachelor's degree and 15 years organizational operations experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including at least 10 years of diverse experience with civil/geotechnical engineering, RCRA/CERCLA studies and/or environmental compliance.

Demonstrated progressive and successful program/portfolio management experience (>12 years) leading environmental and/or engineering programs on a variety of contract types (e.g., CPFF, T&M, FFP).

Demonstrated expertise in program/project financial management, proposal development, and risk management, and experience with Estimates at Completion (EACs).

Demonstrated experience successfully managing engineering and/or scientific teams of at least 50 employees.
