Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic – Diagnostic Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks, particularly Volvo engines and other common powertrains. This role requires experience with OBD diagnostic tools, Volvo and Cummins software, and an ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy duty diesel engines, including inspections and diagnostics.
Conduct diagnostics to assess the condition of vehicles and recommend necessary repairs.
Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, with a focus on Volvo engines.
Utilize OBD reading tools, Volvo Tech Tool, Cummins Insite, and other diagnostic software to troubleshoot engine and electronic issues.
Perform DOT inspections and complete required paperwork.
Troubleshoot electrical systems and components, ABS, DEF, EGR, emissions systems, etc. to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
Repair or replace shocks, struts, and other suspension components to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Maintain proper alignment of vehicles and conduct tire inspections.
Provide tire service including installation, rotation, and balancing as needed.
Communicate findings and repairs effectively to the shop office team for accurate documentation.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed in CMMS.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role preferably in a fleet maintenance setting. (required)
Strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engine systems, automotive diagnostics, and repair techniques. (required)
Strong expertise in Volvo engines and experience with Cummins software, OBD tools, and electronic diagnostics. (required)
Familiarity with electrical systems in vehicles; ability to troubleshoot and repair as needed. (required)
Experience with shocks, struts, alignment procedures, and tire service is preferred. (preferred)
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Valid driver's license; additional certifications related to diesel mechanics are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $25.00 - $35 per hour (based on experience)
