Cornerstone Industrial is seeking a highly motivated and flexible Traveling Carpenter / Field Tech to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a vital role in supporting our Site Superintendents in completing various construction projects across different locations.
This position involves weekly travel (100%) with intermittent breaks between projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Construction Skills:
o Carpentry experience in commercial construction including framing, acoustic ceilings, millwork and wainscoting
o Execute a variety of construction proficiencies, including drywall patching and repairs, small electrical/plumbing fixture changes, painting, miscellaneous installations, etc. See full list under qualifications.
Follow Instructions and Execute Tasks:
o Follow the direction of the Project Manager, and Superintendent to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
Safe Work Practices:
o Utilize materials, equipment, and methods according to established industry and safety standards. Maintain assigned tools and equipment in clean working order, notifying the Superintendent of any repair needs or malfunctions.
o Follow proper safety procedures and report any incidents or potential hazards to the Superintendent or Foreman.
Effective Communication:
o Understand and follow both written and oral instructions, completing assignments independently when needed.
o Utilize systems and technology to update project status.
Professionalism and Teamwork:
o Maintain a professional working relationship with everyone encountered throughout the workday.
Job Site Management:
o Maintain a clean and organized job site by picking up tools and equipment daily, securing the site to eliminate hazards.
Material Handling:
o Load and unload trucks as needed.
Equipment Operation:
o Set up and operate various hand tools and power equipment safely and effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
3 years of experience in carpentry
2 years of experience in construction or a related field
Possession of a valid OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
Experience in various construction and maintenance tasks, including:
o Installation of shelving, cabinetry, wainscotting and millwork. Also offers basic framing repairs and both rough and finish carpentry.
o Tiling & Grouting: repair and installation
o Painting & Caulking
o Equipment Installation and Assembly
o Drywall and Suspended Ceiling Repair
o Basic Masonry
o Stainless Steel Installation
o Signage and Light Fixture Installation
o Minor Plumbing Repairs (e.g., replacing faucets)
Working knowledge of proper use and safety procedures for equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to receive and follow instructions clearly.
A dependable and consistent work ethic, meeting the established attendance schedule.
Ability to complete tasks independently and efficiently, while effectively managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
A proactive and positive thinker with strong judgment and communication skills, able to solve problems independently.
Additional Information:
Must be able to travel regionally and work on-site at various customer locations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Willingness to work weekends, off-hour shifts, holidays, and overtime as needed.
