Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Cannabis Paralegal to support our licensing and compliance operations. This role is essential in managing cannabis licensing matters at both the state and local levels, primarily within Michigan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for tracking, preparing, submitting, and renewing all licensing applications and documentation, ensuring strict compliance with applicable laws and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

State Licensing Support:

o Prepare and submit cannabis license applications and renewal packages to the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA), including prequalification renewals.

o Ensure compliance with all Michigan state licensing requirements and regulations.

o Track and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting cannabis operations in Michigan.

Local Licensing Support:

o Manage local municipal licensing applications and renewals for various jurisdictions within Michigan.

o Liaise with local government agencies regarding application requirements, timelines, and updates.

Entity and Corporate Maintenance:

o Handle entity registrations, renewals, and updates with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

o Maintain accurate corporate records in alignment with cannabis licensing obligations.

Compliance and Deadline Management:

o Maintain an accurate licensing calendar, ensuring all renewal and compliance deadlines are met at both state and local levels.

o Monitor license statuses and proactively coordinate renewals or amendments as needed.

o Assist legal team with ongoing licensing audits, reports, and internal compliance reviews.

Application and Documentation Management:

o Assemble and manage supporting documentation for license applications (e.g., financials, ownership structures, background checks).

o Coordinate with clients, consultants, and legal counsel to ensure complete and timely submissions.

Qualifications:

2+ years of paralegal experience, with a focus on regulatory or licensing work (cannabis industry preferred).

Familiarity with cannabis regulations and government filing platforms (e.g., CRA, LARA).

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Salary:

$70,000-90,000 based on experience.
