These include case statements, major donor proposals, executive summaries, white papers and more. Work collaboratively with development professionals and individuals in the academic units to develop integrated fundraising plans and oversee the development of fundraising communications materials. This position reports to the Director, Strategy and Content.Essential Functions(Essential functions are the primary duties/major job responsibilities that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Essential Function % TimeAssist in managing the preparation of a variety of written and designed materials for development initiatives, including case statements, major donor proposals, executive summaries, special letters, briefing materials, reports, and white papers. 20%Work in partnership with division staff on a range of fundraising, marketing, and donor stewardship materials. Help develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase the quality and frequency of communications to all development constituents. 20%In collaboration with division partners, develop integrated communication and fundraising plans for projects and programs in the academic units and for university-wide initiatives. Help advance collaboration and coordination between teams. 20%Assist with developing and implementing communication plans for comprehensive fundraising campaign. 15%Support fundraising activities by contributing to the overall efforts to strengthen communications within the division, across campus and in the community to encourage long-term engagement with Wayne State from diverse audiences. 10%Provide writing support for upper university administration (President, Vice Presidents, Board of Governors) in the form of speeches, special letters, briefing materials, proposals, and reports. 10%Perform other related duties as assigned. 5%WORK CONTEXTThis grid characterizes the position scope.Job Reports to: DirectorLeadership Accountability: Develops strategic plans and interprets policySupervisory Accountability: NoneOrganizational Accountability: NoneFinancial Accountability: NoneCustomer Accountability: Interfaces with officials and executivesFreedom to Act: Subject to general input from supervisorUnique duties:Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation Bachelor's degreeBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in in English, communications, marketing, or journalism. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)At least 5 years fundraising and communication experience. Minimum 3 - 4 years of experience with individual proposal writing.Experience writing in Associated Press style. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAnalytical and Presentation Skills: Ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations. Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail in order to achieve a high degree of accuracy.Collaboration: Exhibits a willingness to partner with diverse units across the university with integrity and high character to reach unified goals. Possesses the ability to navigate difficult situations with grace and understanding while being respectful and accepting of individual differences. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and Teams.
