DescriptionUnder general supervision, the District Manager is part of the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) within the Mayor’s Office and is responsible for answering concerns from residents regarding neighborhood blight.Examples of Duties

Drive the community engagement efforts of City initiated projects in the district including infrastructure improvements, planning and economic development, service delivery improvements, public safety, parks, and other projects.

Coordinate with district community development organizations, neighborhood association, block clubs, faith-based organizations, and area businesses to determine blight related needs, concerns, issues and resolve them.

Communicate with the District City Council member to inform them of Administration plans and programs impacting the district.

Work with the Detroit Landbank on initiatives centered around blight in neighborhoods.

Work with Neighborhood Police officers, BSEED inspectors, Land Bank staff and DPW to identify specific blight hot spots in the district and create strategies to remove the blight.

Assist district residents in resolving other complaints around City Service delivery and connect them to resources.

Closely collaborate with the Detroit Land Bank and Detroit Building Authorities on: side lot sales and maintenance of vacant property, setting priorities for commercial and residential demolitions, promoting house auctions and open houses in the district, and assisting with the development and promotion of other DLBA and DBA initiatives.

Represent the Mayor’s Office at monthly community meetings.

Answer and respond to phone calls and emails. Maintain and update call log.

Minimum QualificationsQualifications (required):

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field of study.

Minimum of (3) three years of experience in community outreach.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position.Qualifications (preferred):

Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field of study.
