Job Title: Part-Time In-Home Respite Worker/Caregiver for Two Children

Location: Southfield, MI (major cross streets are 8 Mile and Inkster Road)

Schedule: Part-time, two hours after school, Monday - Friday

Pay: $15 - 20 per hour

We are seeking dependable in-home staff to support two children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. We prefer experience in caregiving, primary school education, and/or child development. We are committed to a thriving home based culture that instills inspiration and happiness. You will mainly be working inside of a private home while supporting, encouraging and overseeing two children. You will also be bringing the kids outside (such as walks to the park a block away on good weather days, rare urgent errands, community activities, etc.). This job will allow you to earn a part time income while maintaining your lifestyle and/or hobbies.

Biweekly Pay.

Mileage paid at federal rate for very rare urgent errands, if needed.

Paid directly through Oakland County.

Responsibilities:

Act as an overseer watching kids at all times, ensuring home security and safety, doing minor housekeeping to only clean up after kids meals and kids playtime activities.

Assist with daily routines such as brushing teeth, changing clothes, overall hygiene, toileting (including potty training), etc.

Engage the children in safe play activities.

Prevent unsafe kids’ play/rough housing.

Limit kids use of electronic devices per parental preferences and rules.

Snack prep. Watch for food allergies and intolerances. Keep food areas, plates, cups and utensils sanitized.

Communicate with parents on kids’ progress, other staff concerns, and daily routines.

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years old or older.

High school diploma or GED required.

Background check including finger printing required, per Oakland County.

Be respectful, responsible, kind, and enjoy kids.

We need mature individuals who consistently demonstrate willingness to work harmoniously with parent(s), show patience, empathy, reliability, professionalism, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and are personable.

Experience level: 1 years 's experience but will train the right individual.

Ability to sit, stand and move intermittently during working hours. Able-bodied.

Cell phone must be carried at all times.

Must like small dogs!

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Reliable transportation and punctuality.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.

Ability to follow care plans and adapt to individual needs.

Preferred but not required to have one or more of these experiences: 1) working with children with special needs, autism, developmental delays, sensory processing disorders, and/or behavioral support, and/or 2) knowledge of sign language, AAC devices, and/or therapeutic approaches, and/or 3) respite care.
