This is a casual dining restaurant open seasonal May thru Oct 22, 2024.

We are searching for skilled, passionate, experienced Chef with a passion for adventure & hospitality, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

This position is responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations up to and including final presentation for delivery to guests. This is a working Chef position in which he or she will participate in, as well as train our small staff personnel in food preparation and presentation methods and procedures.

You will actively participate in developing and refining menu items with the owners and members of the kitchen staff. Our restaurant offers family oriented casual dining experience as well as catering for large groups such as weddings or ATV/Jeep clubs. We prefer to serve foods from scratch such as homemade chicken alfredo, hand battered fresh chicken tenders and we patty our own burgers. Our restaurant is open 5 days a week, Tuesday thru Saturday. You will also supervise and assist in cleaning work area and kitchen during and at the end of shift.

Qualifications:

-high school diploma or GED. Culinary training is highly desirable, but will consider appropriate and varied experience as a substitute in all cases.

-strong culinary skills and a deep understanding of cooking techniques and food preparation methods

-proven ability to develop and execute creative, well-balanced menus

-excellent leadership and communication skills to motivate and guide kitchen staff

-adhere to strict food safety and sanitation practices.

-ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.

-positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for providing exceptional guest service.

Room and Board

We have for rent nice private apartments or private rooms with a commons space with washer/dryer.

Getting Around

There is no public transportation or taxi/Uber service on Drummond Island. It is recommended that you bring a car, preferably an SUV if you plan exploring trails and backroads.

Drummond Island is located off the eastern tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A car ferry is required to cross. It’s tourism is only growing with ATV/Jeep 117 miles of loop trails system. There is also great kayaking if on an inland lake or exploring for shipwrecks on Lake Huron. Fishing has ALWAYS been popular on the island all year long and there’s so much more to offer on Drummond.
