Description Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a growing family-owned company. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. The Controller must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

Requirements - Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

Strong communication and social skills

CPA or MBA preferred

Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills

Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

Comprehensive knowledge of Financial Statement

Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
