GENERAL SUMMARY: Manages the operations of the central sterilization function. Plans and monitors the acquisition, preparation, and distribution of instrumentation and supplies required for safe and effective delivery of care to perioperative patients. Provides management oversight for the development of safety practices, quality control of sterilization processes and programs and overall compliance requirements. Ensures that the central sterilization area is integrated and coordinated with patient needs and the needs of other health care providers. Develops collaborative relationships within Surgical Services to ensure central sterilization practices and procedures meet the needs of interdepartmental staff, physicians and varied patient populations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 10 years of experience and certification.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with increasing scope of responsibility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.
Driving may be required, dependent on specialty.
Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties
