Description We are in search of an Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in the Energy/Natural Resources industry situated near Manistee, Michigan. As an Accounting Manager/Supervisor, you will be tasked with leading and enhancing our accounting department. You will be overseeing a team of employees, dedicated to shaping the financial health of our business. Responsibilities: Supervise and guide the Accounts Payable and Accounting departments, managing both activities and personnel. Ensure the accuracy of weekly, monthly, and yearly closing processes. Prepare and file monthly sales, use, and withholding tax returns using Michigan Treasury Online. Post and manage journal entries, including recurring and allocation entries. Maintain the company's Fixed Assets. Provide insights and analyses on loss and gains to support business decisions and enhance financial efficiency. Ensure departmental compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Develop, guide, and work collaboratively with the Accounts Payable and Accounting teams. Use Accounting Software Systems and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning for efficient accounting functions. Supervise high-volume invoicing and billing functions. Oversee the monthly closing process. Provide direct supervision to the team and ensure adherence to compliance guidelines. Manage and post Journal Entries. Oversee the calculation and filing of Tax - Sales & Use.Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the Energy/Natural Resources industry Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Proven expertise in Auditing procedures Ability to handle Billing Functions effectively Experience in High-Volume Invoicing and Pricing Proficient in Month End Close processes Experience in Direct Supervision of a team Understanding of Profit and Loss statements Knowledge of Compliance regulations within the Energy/Natural Resources industry Ability to prepare and review Journal Entries Experience with Tax - Sales & Use regulations and procedures.
