Position Summary:Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care planPPH:

Possess ability to perform various interviewing and assessment techniques to identify potential/actual problems related to anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure. Consult anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills.

Demonstrates knowledge of ASA and Anesthesia Guidelines.

Utilize and troubleshoot specialty equipment (blood glucose monitor, IV pumps, vein finder, ARJO lift, EKG machine) in an independent, safe manner.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.

CPR issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification

Must satisfactorily complete the first available Basic Dysrhythmia course

Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course within one year of hire/transfer (PPH/PACU/PMCS/ ENDO MINOR PROCEDURES)

Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent

Preferred:

Previous experience in Surgical Services area

Proficient in IV starts.
