The Vehicle Performance Engineer (VPE) will be responsible for voice of the customer development, setting technical objectives, development / validation testing for an assigned vehicle project. The VPE will lead a functional area (Body, Interior, or Electrical) and will be responsible for the development and execution for that functional area on a specific vehicle project. The VPE will establish Vehicle Functional Objectives and Validation Plans (DVP&R). The VPE will support new feature integration and will participate in tech clubs to ensure consistent execution across other vehicle lines. The VPE will lead the issue resolution process as required by pulling together cross functional engineering teams to identify the root cause and establish corrective action plans. Additionally, the VPE will lead / support ride and drive events, overnight evaluations, validation trips and pilot build activities.
Daily activities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
● Interact with cross functional teams to communicate performance status and discuss issue resolution.
● “Hands-On” vehicle activities such as: testing, inspection, interrogation.
● Benchmarking of internal fleet or competitive set.
● Work with shops to manage vehicle updates.
● Track vehicle performance progress using internal scorecard documents and systems.
● Present updates to senior leadership at weekly escalation meetings.
