Description Exciting opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant, to join a growing non-profit organization in Ann Arbor MI. This is a long-term opportunity, on-site role. The Staff Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger entries. They will also be responsible for various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, financial reporting, and assisting with audits. The Staff Accountant will ensure compliance with applicable regulations and support the finance team in achieving departmental objectives. 100% onsite. Pay up to $30/hrKey Responsibilities: Perform accounting operations required to maintain the general ledger, adhering to US GAAP, company policies, and internal controls requirements. This includes recording vendor invoices received, issuing customer invoices, contract billings and recording bank transactions. Performs bank transactions and cash disbursements related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and funds transfer. Assist with preparing investment/microloans recording and reporting, fixed asset inventory, depreciation, and amortization calculations, and perform entries for the company and its affiliated companies. Maintain the general ledger for accuracy and alignment of US GAAP. Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports. Prepare and enter the closing journal entries and assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes. Reconcile bank statements and accounts payable/receivable. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. Assist with audits and tax preparation. Participate in the budgeting process and financial forecasting. Maintain and update filing and document management. Support management with financial analysis and special projects as needed. Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes.Must meet the following qualifications to be considered: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or Associate's degree in Accounting plus three years or more experience. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications: CPA or relevant certification is a plus. Experience with Quick Books Desktop is a plus. Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards. Non-profit experience is a plus. Requirements Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the non-profit sector Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with maintaining the General Ledger Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries Experience in performing Month End Close procedures Proficiency in using QuickBooks accounting software Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a must Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team High degree of professionalism and ethical standards Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Knowledge of non-profit accounting regulations and standards is a plus.
