Research Laboratory Tech AssocApply NowJob SummaryNOTE: This will be a one (1) year term-limited appointment.The laboratory of Carole Parent at the Life Sciences Institute is looking for a research laboratory technician to join their research team. Projects aim to identify the molecular mechanisms by which innate immune cells reach sites of infection/injury using in vitro and in vivo approaches. The applicant will work with a postdoctoral fellow in the lab to perform the project and report directly to Dr. Parent.Mission StatementTheLife Sciences Institute (https://www.lsi.umich.edu/) explores biological processes, structures, and functions at the finest scale to create impact on a global scale. Isolate and handle innate immune cells from various sources

Perform immunofluorescence analyses and live imaging of migrating cells

Perform biochemical analyses of extracellular vesicles and lipid droplets

Perform quantitative analyses of high throughput imaging

Interpret findings and report to mentor

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience isolating neutrophils and peripheral mononuclear cells from human blood

Minimum 1 year of experience isolating alveolars macrophages from rat lungs

Minimum 1 year of experience with cell biological (including live cell, high resolution and expansion microscopy), biochemical (including western blot, immunoprecipitation, eicosanoid Elisa, exosome and lipid droplet purification), and molecular biology (including retro/lentivirus infection) techniques as they apply to innate immune cells

Desired Qualifications

BS in Biological Sciences and Pharmacology, or a related discipline

Minimum 1 year of experience in analysis of directed cell movement and chemokine signaling
