FCI consultants guide the redesign of large undergraduate courses that introduce students to the major or field of study. As an instructional consultant, you will work closely with FCI colleagues and departmental teams to implement a multi-year, team-based approach to redesign. Grounded inequity-focused teaching principles (https://crlt.umich.edu/equity-focused-teaching) , our approach to redesign efforts involves formative assessment and the strategic use of learning analytics, educational technologies, research, and an array of data with the goal of creating more engaging and inclusive learning experiences for all students. Responsibilities

Co-lead regular working sessions with course teams, promoting collaboration by integrating diverse perspectives and fostering transparent and effective communication

Coordinate course team logistics and lead project management, including communication, scheduling meetings, and managing project scope and timelines

Guide course teams through all phases of the course (re)design process, from vision to implementation, including supporting teams in centering equity in their course design

Develop protocols for student and instructor feedback, and analyze and interpret qualitative data, including from surveys, student assessments, and other teaching/learning-related datasets

Facilitate and co-facilitate trainings, workshops, and professional development sessions for course teams and other FCI and CRLT partners

Participate in CRLT's all-staff teams and contribute to FCI and center-wide working groups to support and enhance our collective mission

Contribute to a vibrant and positive work culture by engaging in regular consultation with peers and leadership, participating in community-building opportunities, and building cross-center and cross-campus collaborations

Required Qualifications

Completed Doctoral degree and at least one year of teaching experience in higher education (university/college/community college context); or equivalent experience such as a completed Master's degree plus and at least two years of teaching experience, including at least one year teaching in a higher education context. (Note: Applicants currently pursuing a PhD should only apply if they have a dissertation defense date on or before August 31, 2024.)

Experience with course design, curriculum development and/or educational development, preferably in higher education

Experience leading or participating in effective team collaboration (e.g., participating in or leading teams, committees, or substantive projects)

Experience implementing or leading strategic planning or long-term projects

Demonstrated commitment to building equitable and inclusive environments

Additional InformationSALARY RANGE:$66,000.00 - $68,000.00Work Hours:Work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and this is a 40-hour-per-week exempt position. CRLT is currently offering the option of hybrid work schedules. Consultants can work remotely and are required to be in the office at least one day a week for FCI cross-area meetings and on additional days as needed.
