Learn more about RossHERE (https://michiganross.umich.edu/) .Purpose:As the senior member of the Executive Education (EE) Leadership Team and a key member of the Executive Committee, the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Managing Director, Strategic Planning & Initiatives, reports directly to the Chief Executive Education Officer (CEEO).Partnering with the CEEO, you will help set and achieve EE's mission and 5-year growth goals through the planning and execution of our strategic goals, and financial leadership. Responsibilities include establishing budget targets and collaborating with the EE leadership team according to our priorities.You will ensure operational excellence for customers (middle and senior-level executives across multiple sectors) by overseeing faculty, staff, and vendors at five global locations (Ann Arbor, MI; Los Angeles, CA; Detroit, MI; Southeast Florida; Southeast Asia). Your role will involve leadership and development of program delivery and customer service teams, managing three direct and 12-15 indirect reports.Additionally, you will be the primary liaison with internal and external service providers to achieve strategic and operational initiatives.This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI. ResponsibilitiesEE Wide Leadership; Strategic Planning & Financial Management 45%

Partner with CEEO to evaluate growth opportunities, set strategic direction, and develop short and long-range goals.

Secure strategic agreement from EE Leadership Team and Executive Committee.

Manage goal development, policy creation, and priority setting for assigned areas; enforce procedures.

Translate strategic objectives and SWOT analysis into an annual work plan to assess resources, prepare budgets, and conduct performance reviews.

Oversee project management and communication for budgeting, product review, pricing, and strategic planning.

Manage contracting processes with partners and providers; liaise with U-M Central Procurement.

Establish credibility with key internal and external partners to achieve strategic objectives.

Operational Leadership; Global Program Management & Facility Oversight 30%

Manage daily global operations, ensuring alignment with EE's goals.

Coordinate operational procedures to enhance productivity and revenue.

Evaluate service delivery methods and recommend staffing levels.

Oversee program delivery, ensuring collaboration, customer satisfaction, and budget adherence.

Lead negotiations with vendor partners and manage program materials and services.

Direct cross-EE work, including systems, finance, materials, customer service, and administrative support.

Oversee operations of five locations, managing vendors and compliance standards.

Operational Team Leadership; Staff Management and Development 15%

Develop process documentation, SOPs, and knowledge management tools.

Plan, direct, and review staff work plans; resolve issues and evaluate performance.

Serve as functional supervisor for University & Ross School of Business Shared Services.

Provide leadership, communicate vision, and offer professional growth opportunities.

Foster a positive team culture, address challenges, and encourage collaboration.

Recruit and manage a high-performing, customer-oriented team.

EE Wide Strategic Initiatives 10%

Champion process improvements to support transformational initiatives.

Lead efforts to improve organizational effectiveness, ensuring efficiency and quality.

Track and ensure progress on strategic initiatives using project management tools.

Maintain relationships with service providers and EE Leadership for coordinated strategic planning.

Advise CEEO, providing context, research coordination, and project support.

Other related responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience preferably in a corporate learning or executive education environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Client relationship development with executives and leaders in large global firms.

Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices.

Experience in strategic planning.

Prior managerial and team leadership responsibility.

Prior fiscal management responsibility.

Additional InformationThe general posting range for this position is $145,000-$161,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process. Selected candidates whose start date is after April 1st will be eligible for the annual salary program in September 2025, if offered.Application DeadlineJob openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days.
