The VEV Technical Specialist will be responsible for emissions test technology optimization, development, standardization and quality of results used for fuel economy & emissions testing for all North American programs as well as Homologation testing for various Global ICE (gas & diesel) and xHEV programs. Additional responsibilities for EV testing development and range compliance testing for global markets. Regulatory compliance testing for all U.S. LEV IV, TIER4, European Stage VII, Chinese and EU Conformance of Production and U.S. In-Use Vehicle Compliance testing.Global Facility support would include all North American sites: Allen Park Testing Lab, ELD, Mexico and South America (Titui), European Laboratories at Dunton, Merkenich and support to China.In this positionGlobal/Regional EV Range and Emissions & Fuel Economy Testing:
Lead team in the standardization of test methodologies, equipment procurement (BEV 5 cycle, BEV AWD).
Co-lead team in the development of global equipment functional specifications.
Support / lead the development of a global automation toolset (Emission Software standard).
Collaborate with multiple departments and teams to ensure test site capability, both present and future state, meets all regulatory requirements for EPA, CARB (TIER4 and LEV IV, ACC2) and rest-of-world (EU Stage 7).
Lead efforts to reduce variability and maintain site-to-site EV Range/Fuel Economy/Emissions results.
Collaborate with EU/Global partners to ensure sufficient capability/full compliance to address EU Stage7 regulatory pull ahead (2025CY implementation, 100% EV market by 2035CY).
Lead team to develop next gen laboratory management system (vehicle automation, scheduling, data analyses tool set).
Support new HD BEV capability expansion.
Lead electrification initiatives (RotoTest/HUB Dynos, EV cyclers, HVB emulators, Hydrogen-EV hybrid).
Collaborate with P/T&E/E other partners in EV space (HVB development, efficiencies, best practices).

Lead the technical aspects of cost reduction processes to ensure that savings are developed while supporting quality delivery.
Define waste elimination opportunities – Analytical CAE/Modelling and/orPhysical Test Domain And lead corrective action/implementation plans.
Develop equipment specifications/Statement of Work (SOW) for new facilities and processes.
Work with purchasing and engineering staff in developing RFQ’s/RFI’s to solicit quotations for equipment procurement.
Lead commissioning of new facilities and processes
Identify automation gaps (software/hardware) in full vehicle dynamometer testing; develop proposals to close and implement new technologies.
Drive development to increase level of automation and reduce operator and customer touch points with goal of 100% error detection to reduce void test rate and proliferate new technology across GLOBAL Test Laboratories.
Identify gaps / error states within the automation systems. Enhance automation system through regulatory interpretations, error state analysis and efficiency actions to increase first time through (FTT) success.
People:
Mentor other technical employees and consult with others who need expert advice. Train by sponsoring or conducting classes and seminars.
Develop current TS community and future generation of the TS community.
Support in the identification, recruiting and interviewing of key technical talent.

You'll have
BSME / BSEE or related field required.
10+ years in full vehicle dyno emissions testing and/or related powertrain testing and associated methods/test technology development.
5+ years of experience /working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations and European Union (EU) Regulations regarding full vehicle emissions / fuel economy requirements and testing requirements.
In-depth understanding of test systems and its integration with global test systems including Horiba STARS VETS/ ATI as well as data management and business integration systems.
Demonstrated experience and application of Six Sigma methodologies and statistical control of critical test data and test facility parameters.
Applied understanding of Data Acquisition, Control Systems Fundamentals, FMEA, G8D, and Process Control Methods.
Ability to break down large, complex systems requirements into smaller scale deliverables with immediate benefit is critical.
Strong MS Office suite and computer skills.

MSME or MSEE Preferred.
Working knowledge of complex test systems, supporting facilities equipment (fixed and mobile), and control software fundamentals.
Leadership on Lights Out Testing implementation for complex dynamometer test systems.
Project management experience delivering cross functional process, facility and software upgrades.
Experienced presenter with ability to compose clear content suitable for GSR through executive level audiences.
