The Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital will give our community its first-ever wellness destination. Our families and friends will have improved access to nutrition education, exercise resources and state-of-the-art care like they never have before. We offer over 200,000 square feet and has 58 acute cate beds in our new state-of-the-art regional hospital. Our campus also features an organic farm with access to nutrition, education and therapies. We will serve as a community hub that touches residents of all ages and promotes a higher quality of life. This is a new model of collaboration between ProMedica and the community. We are excited to set a new standard for health and wellness in Lenawee County.Position Summary:Performs area specific assigned duties to ensure food service to patients, employees, and visitors is of the highest quality and delivered with excellent customer service. Maintains area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition. Observes all safety procedures.Accountabilities:

Prepares and delivers patient nourishments to the patient care area. Readies tray with appropriate portions according to diet and order request. Delivers and retrieves patient trays with high customer service standards. Records intake appropriately.

Provides fast, friendly, accurate, and clean service to each customer. Acknowledges customers promptly and greets with a smile.

Performs various duties as directed: wash carts, ready foods for next meal, restocking, etc. Performs minimal cooking (ie grill, pizza) methods to obtain a quality end product. Loads or removes tableware from dishwashers. Re-supplies the retail area and production line with clean tableware.

Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Ensures accurate and efficient sales transactions. Know and observe all conditions of the cash handlers agreement.

Maintains food at proper temperatures and assures safety and freshness of food. Follows proper technique for pulling and rotation of stock and labeling and dating of foods. Maintains temperature logs. Understands F.I.F.O. (first in, first out) and proper dating and labeling of foods.

Maintains cleanliness and order of area. Removes trash when needed. Washes hands appropriately, uses gloves as required, sanitizes hands before entering and exiting a patients room, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:Skills:Must be able to read and speak the English language. Must be able to understand directions, communicate, and respond to inquiries. Must have knowledge of weights and measurements. Requires ability to make change and keep records accurately. Must be able to operate and maintain equipment as directed. Exceptional customer service skills with internal and external customers required. Must be able to work independently.Certification: Have or obtain Lenawee County Health Department Food Handlers card.Personal Protective Equipment: Coat or apron, and non-sterile medical gloves.Physical Demands: Occasional lifts, caries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs. Must be able to frequently lift light to medium weight equipment and supplies. Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Frequent prolonged standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
