ENTRY LEVEL TRADES APPRENTICE / ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISOR

Minuteman Building & Preservation, Inc. is a small professional General Contracting & Construction Management firm serving MetroWest MA and the Boston Area with a primary focus on Fine Residential & Institutional Construction, Historic Preservation & Light Commercial Construction
Our intense focus on satisfying the customers in our niche market provides us with exciting opportunities to work on Churches, Libraries, Museums, Performance Centers & other Historic Landmarks across the state. Because of the nature of our business, we chose to travel to the projects that fit our relationships & core competencies and candidates should be prepared to travel approximately one hour each way depending on the project and location.
Minuteman acts as the General Contractor & Project Facilitator on projects such as Full Home renovations, elevator installations, bathroom modifications, preservation, handicap accessibility and modification to older building as well as additions and general renovations. As facilitators of the project, we commonly outsource the major components of the project & self-perform the loose ends that aren’t easily outsourced. Additionally, Minuteman is known for our ability to restore, modify and augment major structural issues. In other words, we are a hands-on building firm and all field staff are expected to physically work hard.
Job Description
As an entry level individual working for a hands-on organization, this will be a labor-intensive job and will frequently require running for materials and setting jobs up for success. Candidates in this position are expected to learn from the carpenters & site supervisors that they support and move up the ranks.
Regular activities are likely to include;
General Clean-up
Site Cleanliness
Material Runs
Assisting with carpentry
Deconstruction (Removing general and historic materials for future use)
Demolition
Setting up general conditions and on-site protection
General labor such as hand-digging or carrying materials
Additionally, this candidate may likely be asked to assist with the following trades on an as needed basis
Carpentry
Masonry
Concrete
Painting
Drywall
Etc.
Furthermore, this candidate should be prepared to assist in general up-keep of our shop and apartment building such as
Snow Removal
Shop organization
Schedule. Usually 40 hours or more assuming your skill set is good enough to keep you busy.
Compensation is based on the individual candidate.
Required Skills. As an entry level position, we understand that you are not yet experts in any trade, however hands on experience in the building trades does help. Furthermore, a dedication & passion for the construction industry, the trades and historic preservation will be very beneficial. You will be required to obtain a OSHA 10 card if you don’t already have one.
Additional Benefits. Although on the smaller size, Minuteman is a Professional Construction firm performing higher end residential & commercial projects. Many of our systems and base of clientele are the same as many larger contractors & projects. Working with us will expose the candidate to some of the most important aspects of the construction industry in smaller manageable pieces. This candidate will have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with a very talented crew of this small firm and learn from their decades of experiences.
