The Facility Team Member reports directly to the facilities manager and must maintain positive, professional relationships with individuals served, families/guardians, peers, community partners and government agencies. The facility team member acts as a positive role model and mentor to agency staff by providing service standards of excellence in all building repair and maintenance duties.
Schedule: Monday to Friday (8am to 4pm)
Essential Functions:
Ability to lift up to 50lbs. with frequent lifting and or carrying of 25lbs.
Perform sanitation procedures, general repairs, custodial tasks and manual tasks.
Operation and maintenance of heating/cooling systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and assess problems, independent thinker, and good time management skills.
Physical demands include Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and twisting.
Basic Electrical including smoke detector replacement, light fixture and switch repair/replace, breaker panel and coax knowledge, fire panel knowledge, plug repair/replace.
Basic Plumbing including toilet and faucet repair/replace, water feeds, repair/unclog drains, shower/tub repairs.
Landscape including yard cleanups, plow and snow removal, masonry of walkways, driveway repairs, use of machinery, machine maintenance and overall facility-based upkeep.
Carpentry including sheetrock repair/replace, mud/patch, painting, finish carpentry, ceiling repairs, deck and ramp repair/knowledge.
Troubleshoot appliances.
Frequent driving of facility motor vehicles, snowplow and vans.
Maintain an accurate inventory of tools machinery and maintenance-related equipment and keep in good repair.
Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, complete administrative tasks, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and crisis manage.
Cross functional communication skills, written and oral, which convey clear and concise information in a professional and respectful manner to individuals supported, family members/guardians, peers, suppliers, government agencies, community partners and all employees throughout the organization.
Basic vehicle knowledge and troubleshooting, monthly vehicle checks, and assists program/department staff in arranging vehicle servicing.
On call responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
In conjunction with and as directed by the facilities manager, evaluate building(s) condition/construction needs to prioritize immediate and future repairs.
Provides administrative support to facilities manager.
Actively advocates for individuals served and demonstrates agency mission and values in all interpersonal and professional relations.
Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required. Maintains all required certifications.
Flexible work schedule required to address unexpected, emergency, diverse and dynamic needs of individuals and programs (facilities).
Conducts oneself professionally, maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies and adhering to confidentiality requirements in all assigned duties
Troubleshoot common computer, printer and office equipment operational issues.
Receive authorization to purchase supplies, materials and equipment.
Request, schedule and respond with follow up to routine inspections and facility maintenance/repair issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications A Valid driver’s license and acceptable CORI is required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.
High school diploma or GED is required and four years’ experience in the building trades. Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills required.
