Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist with background in protein production and cellular assay development to join the AbbVie Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine organization to support AbbVie’s collaboration with the Calico Labs on aging and age-related diseases.Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will execute hands on scientific research involving screening of recombinant tool and therapeutic proteins, including antigens, antibodies and other biologics molecules.

The individual will perform small scale protein production to support exploratory effort on the new targets.

The individual will perform biological and biochemical assays (such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, MSD or WES) to characterize biologics molecules.

The individual will perform functional assays to generate data and help our understanding of drug and target biology.

The individual will summarize and graph experimental data from multiple experiments, keep accurate electronic records of experiments and activities, timely report experimental results

The individual will work closely with scientists in the Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine organization and project teams wherever appropriate.

The position requires creativity, adaptability, quantitative thinking, and focus on pursuit of project team goals.

QualificationsQualifications:

Master's degree in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or other relevant biological sciences with typically 2-5+ years of experience or bachelor's degree with typically 5-7+ years of experience.

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in protein production, cell culture, molecular biology and biochemical assays such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, and WES.

Knowledge of biology of aging and age-related diseases is desirable.

Experience in data science is desirable.

Ability to work independently on assigned research tasks, anticipate problems and propose potential solutions.

Ability to work in a demanding and intellectually challenging environment, and teamwork across multiple scientific disciplines and functions.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
