Position Overview
This is a position at a growing and successful worker-owned cooperative. The Site Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects.
Strong work ethic and organization skills are a must.

Job Duties
Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
Joins materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
Erects and dismantles scaffolding.
Installs windows and doors.
Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
At least three years of experience via on-the-job training
Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
Thorough understanding and practice of safety principles
Works well as part of a team.

Knowledge of applicable building codes in MA
Physical Demands
Frequent handling of materials from 5-40 lbs, unassisted
Frequent handling of materials from 41 lbs +, assisted
Sustained periods of maintaining the same position
Compensation
Full-time, starting at $22-$28/hr, depending on experience. Pay is subject to regular review and raises.
