This ad is up because i'll be looking for a part-time painter to start September some time.
A little bit about me, and what I / we do:
I'll be 50 years old next month, been painting houses off & on for over 15 years, approx the last 11 years on my own.
I currently reside just over the border, in Vernon, Vermontjust north of Northfield, MA.
Most of our work has been in the Amherst, Northampton, MA area. Other towns we've worked in have been: Greenfield, turners falls, orange, Deerfield, Springfield, Hatfield, brattleboro, Vermont, Vernon, Vermont. I currently have 2 part-time helpers. One is my son, who will be going back to college in a few weeks from now. He and my other helper typically a;average approx 20-30 hours per week. I do NOT pay for your travel time, however, I do not dock your time for lunches / breaks etcand I usually round your hours up. We do NOT currently spray, however, that will be changing sometime in the near future. I'm currently licensed and insured to work in the state of Vermont, you can find us on the Vermont state website under: Imperial Paint & Lead Solutions . I've got a large work van, you could ride in with me to jobs sometimes, but others times it may be better for you to ride on your own. Here are some things that I'll be expecting from you:
- communicate, if you're running late, or need a day off, just let me know asap.
- be respectful in people's homes.
-i'll purchase your first pair of painter's pants / shorts, please wear them.
- i'll be purchasing work shirts / sweaters/ hats etc for us sometime in near futurealso, please wear while working.
-no dramaI run a business, not a babysitting agency.
-you do not need a lot of experience, i'm willing to train you as we go along.
-you do NOT need any tools, i'll supply everything you'll need. But if you have some hand-tools etc that you like to use, by all means use them.
-above all. please , please, pleasehave consistent and reliable transportation!
I am going for further training I October for lead ABATEMENT. you may or may not be required at some point to be trained as well, if so, I will cover your expenses. as of right now, it a big if. so no need to worry or think about it at this point.
What i'm hoping for: to find someone who is motivated, willing to learn, good at taking instructions, someone who is punctual, with a thick skin who can take constructive criticism. i'm super easy to get along with and to work with., however completing and attaining daily goal is and will be super important. This may be a good fit for a younger? college student who is part-time? idk, but attitude is super important too.
Pay: We are not a big company. I can pay a starting hourly pay of $20/hr , and if things work out, then pay will increase . It's important for us to meet, and for you to work with us a few days etcto see if it'll be a good fit for the both of us, or not.

I pay weeklyand you will not need to fill out any forms or paper work. If you work out and its a good fit for the both of us, then when I take this to the next step, you will be considered a '1099 contractor'., for tax purposes. But no need to concern yourself with that up front.
