Long-established yoga studio seeking instructor for an ongoing, weekly Saturday morning yoga class, 9-10am.
The Saturday morning class is a vinyasa or flow practice, conducted at a moderate pace with time for a cool down and relaxation at the end of the class. All classes at SFY are "mixed-level", and the ability to accomodate a range of ages and abilities is needed, however this class is intended for students with some prior experience. The ideal candidate would have some experience teaching yoga and an awareness of and/or experience with:
- evolving perspectings on repetitive strain injuries related to yoga practice and strategies to prevent them.
- the broader historical and cultural contexts of yoga (in addition to the specific teachings of your chosen lineage or method).
-power dynamics and trauma-informed teaching practices.
Our large studio, in a newly renovated Mill with a view of the falls, is beloved by students and teachers alike. We continue to practice care in regards to contagious illness: Students and teachers are asked to stay home when ill, and the space contains four large air purifiers. We currently have an 18-20 person maximum for in-person classes with a simple online registration system.
At Shelburne Falls Yoga, we actively foster an environment in which the students' goals, needs, and intuitive wisdom take precedence over external performance or conforming to outside instruction. We value the process of inquiry and honor the multi-faceted, ancient, and evolving tradition of yoga. Compassionate self-observation is at the core of our offerings, and we engage in an ongoing exploration of how this core can be extended outward in acknowledgement of the collective needs of our shared world.
This position is availabe beginning June 7, with interviews to be conducted in early to mid-May or until filled.
