Marketing Manager

Dean’s Beans seeking a Marketing Manager to join our small, dedicated team. The successful candidate will carry a passion for our mission and values, as well as understanding Dean’s Beans’ customers. The Marketing Manager is responsible for all marketing administration including strategy, company/product messaging, customer engagement communications, planning product sales, email blasts, social media posts, and writing award applications. They will work closely with the CEO to determine an annual marketing strategy that will include sales growth goals, website management, social media, and any new product launches.

The Marketing Manager will also supervise the Social Media Assistant to determine social media strategy with the goal of increasing our organic reach and increasing followers while maintaining Dean’s Beans unique voice and communicating our mission, vision and values. S/he will be at ease communicating and collaborating with the CEO, Office, Facilities, and Production Managers regarding various aspects of the business.

Essential Duties

Marketing

With CEO, guide overall marketing strategies for the company

Use analytics to track website performance, customer trends and sales metrics

Keep track of Shopify conversion rates, abandoned carts, etc., and identify areas for improvement

With CEO and other staff, review effectiveness of marketing strategies quarterly, adjust as needed

Collaborate with others to ensure brand consistency and alignment

Create and manage content for website, social media, email campaigns, blog

Create and manage external communications, including public relations, media relations, etc.

Create and send bi-weekly customer email blasts in MailChimp

Purchase and manage paid ads (e.g. NEPM, Google AdWords, Amherst Cinema, etc.) with approval of the CEO

Prepare press releases when necessary, with the approval of the CEO

Apply for various relevant awards throughout the year

Social Media Management

Supervise the Social Media Assistant and work closely together to:

Design and execute a social media strategy

Generate and post original content at least 3x per week. This content should include calls to action

that build meaningful connections and encourage followers to interact with our brand

Moderate user-generated content and repost when useful and appropriate

Monitor analytics and take action to improve the reach and engagement of our content

Ensure that Dean’s Beans mission, vision, values, and company personality and voice are conveyed

Optimize company pages on all platforms to increase visibility of Dean’s Beans social media content

Website Management

Use analytics to monitor website performance, identify strategies for content and SEO optimization

Create and update blog posts, including managing comments

Continuously monitor and update content so all information is current and accurate (esp. to Mission, About Us, FAQ)

Run Wave and Lighthouse scans weekly for possible accessibility issues. Respond as needed.

Sales / Ecommerce

Track and report on websales monthly to identify trends and suggest ways to boost sales

Track and report on conversion rate data from Shopify; identify opportunities for improvements in customer checkout flow

Lead quarterly sales meetings focusing on sales trends, and how marketing efforts are impacting sales

Make sure all product pages on the website are up-to-date and products are showcased in ways that highlight Dean’s Beans quality and unique value proposition

Other Responsibilities

Maintain good relationships with suppliers and coworkers

Treat employees, suppliers and customers with respect, kindness, compassion, and courtesy

Collaborate well with others and enjoy team work, maintaining a positive attitude

Recommend and initiate continuous improvements

Occasionally assist with customer service or production, or work overtime, as needed

Interest in occasional public speaking, teaching or training about coffee a plus

Qualifications

3 – 5 years’ experience and success leading marketing and communications for companies

Demonstrated digital marketing experience and knowledge of social analytics tools

Extensive experience and skill designing and implementing email marketing campaigns

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience using Canva, Hootsuite and Mailchimp

Excellent Computer skills; Microsoft Office, File Maker, Google Workspace, etc.

Experience with file sharing software including Google Docs and Dropbox

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, preferred

Ability to see the big picture combined with excellent attention to detail

Analytical troubleshooting and creative problem solving

Ability to work well independently and as part of a dynamic team

Exercise good judgment and good decision-making

Be responsive to changing priorities and needs

Initiative, flexibility and a good sense of humor

Compensation

The salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience and education. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) salaried position with excellent benefits, including 100% of health and life insurances covered, generous paid time off and reimbursement for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, plus a 401K with 5% of salary contributed by the company.
