Retreat cook to stay overnight in simple shared quarters with bunks in beautiful venue near the Appalachian Trail on Guilder Pond.
We are 30 men ages 18+ at YMCA Camp Hi-Rock in Mt. Washington, MA. Thursday April 24 - 27, 2025.
Requirements: Person experienced with simple, healthy scratch cooking (co-working with others, knife skills, sautéing, roasting, Computer with Internet, Printer, Familiar with Google (Docs, Sheets), Drivers License, Serve Safe, Zoom interview with Chef and Executive Director David Tall Heart OBrien, Attend Zoom 2 - 1 hour staff meetings a month (March - May).
1 Day (Hybrid - Zoom remote (March TBD) menu planning, recipe development, shopping list and working with Tall Heart in ordering from DoorDash (Big Y), Taft Farms, Berkshire Mountain Bakery, and Berkshire Co-Op or local farms if needed then (On Site) coordinating with Tall Heart and volunteers (with our own van) and picking up supplies on Thursday April 24th morning; traveling to YMCA Camp Hi-Rock: unpacking, stock kitchen, setup, prepare with volunteers a simple afternoon lunch and evening meal for staff.
1 Day (Friday) supervising volunteers at 6:30am, prepping and cooking, setting up, serving (family style) and cleaning a 8am breakfast for staff of 8 and 11am to prep, serve and clean up a 12 noon lunch (to staff of 8) and at 8pm prep for a 9pm to serve, dinner and cleaning for 30 participants.
1 Day (Saturday) supervising volunteers at 6:30am, prepping and cooking, setting up, serving (family style) 8am breakfast and 11am to prep, serve (family style) and supervise a 12 noon lunch for 30 participants and a 5pm prep for 6pm dinner and cleaning for 30 participants.
1 Day (Sunday) supervising volunteers at 6:30am, prepping and cooking, setting up, serving 8am breakfast and 11am to prep, serve and supervise a 12 noon bagged leftovers lunch for 30 participants. Taking inventory and supervising volunteers cleaning the kitchen for a 2-3 pm departure from the venue.
