Production Associate Job Description
We are now hiring a full-time Production Associate. The successful candidate will work in our fast-paced, friendly, high-volume roasting facility and be a critical member of the Production team. The right candidate has strong attention to detail and is a good team player who can learn quickly, taking direction well. This person must also be professional, dependable, demonstrate initiative, and have a good sense of humor.
Responsibilities
This individual is responsible for assigned duties in the production of coffee and other products for fulfilling customer orders, as set out by the Production Manager. The Production Assistant will ensure accuracy of processing customer orders in a timely and high-quality manner.
The Production Associate duties will include:
Filling bins with green, unroasted coffee beans
Grinding coffee
Filling bags of coffee
Packing Orders for shipments
Filling back stock (green beans, hot chocolate, sugar, samplers, etc.)
Quality control
Anything required to keep production flowing smoothly, per the Production Manager
The person hired for this Production Associate role will also be primarily responsible for two important tasks critical to production:
Filling Green Bean Bins: on a regular weekly schedule, and as needed by the Roastmaster, the Production Associate will be responsible for filling green bean bins. Accuracy and diligence is of the utmost importance. The Production Associate will be responsible for using a mechanical hoist, climbing onto, and working on a 4 ½ ft. high catwalk. Filling green bean bins is a dusty job, and we provide masks, gloves, and eye protection for the Production Associate.
Unloading Green Bean Containers: (1-2 times a month) along with the Roastmaster or another production associate, the Production Associate will be responsible for helping to unload green coffee bags, organizing them on pallets, and bringing them to the warehouse. The Production Associate, with assistance of one other person, will be required to lift the 130-152 lb. coffee bags.
Production Associate will be cross trained in duties to support surges in production during very busy weeks, fill in for production employee absences, and other activities that support the business. Production Associate will operate in a safe environment and take no actions that jeopardize the safety of themselves or their coworkers. Employees are responsible for always maintaining a clean and organized work area. The Production Manager may also periodically assign the Production Associate other duties that directly or indirectly support production, workflow or facility cleanliness and safety.
Working with the Production Manager, Human Resource Manager, and Office Manager, employees will participate in improvement projects, production enhancements and other activities promoting the growth and wellbeing of Dean’s Beans. All Dean’s Beans employees are expected to communicate with each other in a mature, respectful, and supportive manner to effectively perform their jobs in a team environment.
Abilities Required:
High School diploma or GED required
Attention to detail
Dependability
Physical strength for prolonged periods of standing and to perform some heavy lifting
Positive Attitude
Ability to follow direction
Good communication skills
Good decision making skills
Forklift experience and license a HUGE plus
Additional Information:
This job involves prolonged periods of standing and some heavy lifting.
Requires initiative and concentration to learn new skills and ensure high quality work.
Exercises good judgment, initiative, and decision-making.
Follows all safety procedures.
