Manufacturing - Cutting Die Rule Person $18 to $20/hour

OBJECTIVE: To install ruling materials for cutting and scoring in previously prepared cutting die bases.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: The incumbent in this line position reports to the Production Supervisor, of Cutting Dies and is responsible for the safe and efficient use of the equipment and tools; the adequacy of the quality and quantity of the ruling materials; and meeting the production and quality standards required for performing the job.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:

1. Cutting, Bending, Punching Fixtures

2. Miscellaneous Hand Tools (Hammers, Pliers, etc.)

3. Power Operated Stationary and Portable Grinding Tools

4. Miscellaneous Measuring Equipment

SPECIFIC DUTIES (TYPICAL ACTIVITIES):

1. Mounts the dieboard on ruling cylinder or work table and seats all washers on rotary dies.

2. Assembles appropriate ruling materials required from customer order information and customers equipment specification information.

3. Visually checks dieboard for errors by comparing against drawing and/or sample.

4. Cuts forms and installs ruling materials using hand tools.

5. Computes length of ruling materials by type and records information.

6. Cleans dieboard for next operation.

7. Performs quality appraisal or requests Supervisor quality appraisal at completion of each job.

8. Corrects any flaws detected in completed work.

9. Strips and re-rules dies as directed.

10. Performs housekeeping tasks and keeps equipment clean.

11. Performs routine equipment maintenance as directed.

12. Advises Supervisor on status of materials and supplies inventory.

13. Advises Supervisor of downtime situations or when job information is incomplete.

14. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned by the Supervisor.

15. Assists Supervisor in training new employees in acquiring skills to perform the job.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Attendance, conduct, appearance and professionalism must meet the standards set forth in the Employee Handbook in conjunction with Massachusetts and Federal labor law. These requirements may be further defined in the above Job Specific requirements.

2. Standards of quality and productivity must consistently meet the expectations set forth in the Quality Standards program.

3. Overtime response is key to successfully managing the highly variable workloads found in our industry. Overtime hours including Saturdays and Sundays may be required on a periodic basis as the workload demands.

4. The ability to stand for long periods of time and lift frequent weights up to 20 lbs. and occasional weights up to 65 lbs. with assistance are requirements for this position.

5. Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic equivalent to a grade school education.

6. Ability to exercise judgment in interpretation of customer requirements in relation to the layout with regard to selection and forming of the correct.
