Retreat cook to stay overnight.

We all share bunkbeds in simple shared quarters.

We are 20 men ages 18+ at YMCA Camp Hi-Rock in Mt. Washington, MA.

Thursday May 2 - Sunday May 5, 2024.

Requirements: Drivers License, Zoom interview

Your estimated work schedule with breaks:

3 hours of menu planning, recipe development, shopping list, remote

3 hours of grocery shopping in Great Barrington on Thursday May 2, 2024

2 hour travel to venue: unpack, stock kitchen, setup on Thursday afternoon May 2, 2024

6 hours cooking, setting up, serving breakfast and lunch (to staff) dinner and cleaning on Friday May 3, 2024

6 hours cooking, setting up, serving and cleaning breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday May 4, 2024

6 hours cooking, setting up, serving and cleaning breakfast and lunch Sunday May 5, 2024

Job description:

We are looking for a male cook with foods service related experience.

You are comfortable cooking for 20 in a simple kitchen. You are comfortable following recipes.

You get along well with others, you love to cook, you are creative, you have knife skills, you are comfortable rolling up your sleeves as a team player, you are comfortable asking questions, you are trustworthy, you enjoy nature, you have or have access to a computer for staff online calls, you work within a pre-approved budget and turn in receipts to the treasurer. You will be working with the Executive Director, Chef David OBrien

You will be working with and managing 3-5 volunteers whowill be assisting with prep, cooking, service and cleanup.You will be meeting the staff and grocery shopping, you driving up with staff on Thursday and will be delivering groceries to the venue, food prep, cooking, overseeing serving meals hot and on time.

We have a SweatLodge and a late Friday dinner about 10pm.Saturday breakfast is served at 8am, lunch at noon and dinner at 6pm. Sundaybreakfast is at 8am and leftover lunch is at noon.The kitchen and volunteers are responsible for the dining room set up and breakdown, keeping the kitchen, food, and dishwashing areas clean, organized and at all times. Making sure we have coffee and teas, bread and fruit.

This is a great group of people to cook for.

We source local food when possible. We shop at the Berkshire Food Co-op and support small business owners.

The location is breathtaking on Guilder Pond. Close to the Appalachian Trail.
