Pastry Staff
Purpose:
Prepares and bakes high quality pastries alongside the pastry team
Maintains a clean and organized work space
Participates in organizational tasks such as inventory, ordering, and organization
Required Qualifications:
Food service experience and skills such as food safety awareness, rotating stock, and using kitchen tools
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Strong ability to work independently
Enthusiasm for making great pastries
Must be able to lift 50lb
Preferred Qualifications:
Customer service experience
Food or retail sales experience
Responsibilities:
Prepares and/or bakes a wide variety of cookies and other pastries
Washes pastry dishes and maintains a continuously clean & organize work space
Shares prep space and oven space with the pastry team to produce treats efficiently
Morning pastry: Prepares and bakes biscuits, cheddar biscuits, scones, galettes, and turnovers prior to the bakery opening at 10am and continues to prepare and bake other daily pastries throughout the morning
Pastry prep shift: Prepares galettes, turnovers, and pretzels for the next day’s bake, plus additional specialty items and other prep tasks
Cookie shift: Mixes cookie dough and bakes off cookies to maintain a constant stock of at least 5 cookie varieties
Working Conditions:
The bakery is indoors with a ramp up to the front door and four outdoor steps descending to the back door
Due to our wood fired bread oven, the bakery is always warm or hot and mild to moderately humid
Some private parking is available for staff, and the bakery is adjacent to many streets with metered parking
Daily bakery work involves standing, walking, bending down, heavy lifting, and fine motor tasks
