Current advancements are underway in robotic movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive data, and much more.The AR Operations organization manufactures high-quality robotics and gets the right materials to the right place at the right time to enable our automated solutions. It’s an operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally, and utilizes data and performance indicators.The Process Engineer will be responsible for design, development, installation, and validation of manufacturing equipment and tools to support the manufacture of Robotic Systems. The role will collaborate cross-functionally within Operations and cross-geographically to define equipment/tool requirements, design, produce/procure and validate equipment, and manage optimization and cost-reduction initiatives. The role will be expected to clearly communicate with senior management on project status, risks and change control.Key job responsibilities

Gather tooling requirements from design and process engineers to enable safe and efficient assembly of robotic systems.

Design tools and fixtures that meet product development and production requirements.

Manage fabrication (inhouse manufactured or procured) and validation of equipment/tools/fixtures specific to NPI programs.

Own equipment optimization and cost reduction initiatives for sustaining processes

Write technical and operational planning documents for capital equipment and plant infrastructure.

Implement technology and tool improvements to impact Safety, Quality, and Cost targets.

Perform critical process reviews including Risk and Hazard assessments.

Foster a culture of inclusion.

Ability to travel (10%) to work on projects.

About the teamThe Process Engineering Team works with new product design teams to develop assembly processes, provides design for assembly feedback, writes work instructions, prepares the facility infrastructure, and leads the identification/acquisition/validation of tools, fixtures and equipment for NPI and other work within our AR factories. This team leads technical assessments for internally assembled products, evaluates and implements new technical skills, capabilities, and infrastructure to meet future needs.Basic Qualifications

5+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

Experience with prototyping and implementation

Capable of development and implementation of innovative tooling concepts

Experience reviewing product designs and generating fixture designs in Solidworks.

Ability to manage and deliver projects with accelerated schedules.

Experience and proven skill in written and verbal business communications

Experience in New Product Introduction environment including Phase-Gate process experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools

Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

History of working with electro-mechanical or robotics products

Experience using industry Problem Solving Tools such as 8D, Fishbone/Cause-Effect, or CAPA methodology.

Experience using Quality-Statistical tools such as PFMEA and various statistical techniques such as control charting, pareto, or histograms.
