Over 800 volunteers currently serve the region to amplify the New England Donor Services’ mission to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. Volunteers attend events, share their empowering stories, find local opportunities to make an impact and, ultimately, help the to increase the number of registered donors. The NEDS Volunteer Program is responsible for recruiting, training and retaining a robust group of dedicated individuals, many with personal connections to the cause. Under the supervision of the Volunteer Services Manager, the Volunteer Services Coordinator will assist with program growth and expansion by supporting recruitment, training, scheduling and inventory management. This newly created position will also serve as the primary contact for volunteer activities, event coordination and meetings. This position will work closely with other managers, directors and departments to ensure consistency of NEDS’ goals and strategies.
FOCUS AREAS/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assist with recruitment of new volunteers including donor families, organ and tissue recipients (and family members), transplant patients, living donors, and students.Assist with all functions of volunteer engagement including outreach, communications, cultivation, event support and recognition.Maintains volunteer database with Volunteer Services Manager and performs other administrative tasks, as needed.Organize and lead in-person and ZOOM-based volunteer meeting/trainings throughout NEDS’ service area (all New England states).Assist with volunteer activity execution (schedule and assign volunteers, prepare and mail materials, follow up and attend events, as needed).Assist to develop community education projects for volunteers in the six New England states to promote donation and register donors.Work with NEDS staff to identify volunteer speakers for staff-led events at hospitals and community-based events.Responsible for volunteer program social media and marketing materials, i.e. flyers, invitations, presentations, etc.Collaboration:Respond to internal and external requests for volunteer support, tabling, speakers, etc.Work with local, regional and national advocacy groups to promote organ and tissue donation.Collaborates with Public Affairs team to increase donor registration throughout the region.Works in collaboration with Aftercare Services Team to support donor families and transplant events.Acts as co-team leader for US Transplant Games (every other year, starting in 2026).Participates in national collaborative efforts to maximize volunteer services within OPO’s.Participates in Public Affairs/Community events and projects and Donor Family programs as directed by the Volunteer Services Manager.Administrative:Maintain volunteer contacts and tracking in Salesforce
