Description Robert Half has partnered with a dynamic Services company in the greater Boston area on a search for an interim Sr. Accountant. As the Sr. Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of unapplied cash transactions within the accounts receivable system. You will collaborate closely with the finance and accounting teams to investigate, resolve, and prevent discrepancies related to unapplied cash, ultimately supporting the client’s goal of maximizing cash flow and minimizing financial risk.Key Responsibilities:
Reconciliation Management: Perform daily reconciliation of unapplied cash transactions to ensure alignment with customer accounts and bank statements.
Investigation and Resolution: Investigate discrepancies and variances related to unapplied cash, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed to resolve issues promptly.
Data Analysis: Analyze trends and patterns in unapplied cash transactions to identify root causes of discrepancies and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance reconciliation processes and controls to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of reconciliation activities and provide regular reports to management on the status of unapplied cash accounts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury, to ensure alignment and consistency in financial transactions and reporting.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to accounts receivable and unapplied cash management.
Requirements - Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing, with functional department managers
Strong time management and organizational skills
Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience
D365 experience highly desired
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
Deep understanding of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation
Unapplied Cash experience
Foundational knowledge in Month-end Close Activities
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Skilled with ERP systems
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
