The Hospital Performance Strategist is responsible for advancing hospital-based organ and tissue donation outcomes through data-driven process improvement initiatives. The Hospital Performance Strategist utilizes hospital performance data, clinical observations, and root cause analyses to design and support improvement initiatives aligned with regulatory and best practice standards to assess performance, identify barriers to donation, and implement strategies that improve donation-related metrics, including referral process and referral timeliness and authorization rates. The Hospital Performance Strategist works in collaboration with the Education and Development department to create and implement hospital education to support these initiatives.FOCUS AREAS/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:PERFORMANCE ANALYSISAnalyze hospital-specific donation performance data to identify trends in referral, authorization, and conversion metrics.Conduct case reviews and present summary and opportunities at ODS Leadership Authorization Meeting.Serve as liaison to hospital Quality Departments to identify and establish internal process improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory requirements.DATA REPORTINGWork with Hospital Donation Strategist to generate and effectively communicate hospital-specific performance outcomes, reports, and data presentations to hospital partners.Work with Hospital Donation Strategist to create data slides for Organ Donation Advisory Committee meetings.PROCESS IMPROVEMENT INTIATIVES Utilizing individual and DSA-wide hospital metrics, develop and implement action plans to optimize referral processes, authorization conversations, and timely interventions to optimize donation outcomes.Identify hospital clinical resource and education needs; work collaboratively with Education and Development department as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for creation of educational materials, resources and programs.Introduce new hospital education resources to HDS team and set expectations for use.Identify opportunities and gaps in hospital practice and performance; work collaboratively with HD Leadership and Education and Development department to establish appropriate training plans.Attend NEDS Performance Improvement Committee (PIC) and ODS Opportunity For Improvement (OFI) committee meetings.HOSPITAL DEVELOPMENTAssume responsibility as Hospital Donation Strategist for hospital assignments as assigned.Conduct in-person or phone rounds with hospital staff to identify potential donors and clear plan for follow up/next steps.Analyze and interpret information within a patient medical record for purposes of Death Record Review.  May be tasked with documenting a basic chart review on a referral made to NEDS or received during standard rounding in hospitals.Provide on-site response to referrals and cases as needed to support ODS Optimization team members. This may include documenting and communicating essential information to both hospital partners and essential NEDS staff.Facilitate in-services and other education sessions.Conduct After Action Review as needed.STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTWork collaboratively with the Education and Development department to develop professional development education, including Skills Days.EXTERNAL EDUCATIONWork collaboratively with HDS Leadership and Education and Development department to plan, advertise, and facilitate in-person education programs and webinars for hospital partners and external stakeholders.
