Business Intelligence Analyst

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:Using business knowledge and expertise, conducts market research and feasibility studies to analyze the viability of alternative business development opportunities. Collaborates with team members to develop and prepare market based analytical models, evaluative tools and information designed to advise business leaders regarding potential/future business opportunities, risk, and expansionary targets. Contributes to the development, and implementation of the Fresenius NA business segments’ key prospective strategic initiatives related to growth by providing detailed analyses, reports and recommendations regarding the overall impact to the respective business lines collaborating with business partners and business line owners. Identifies anticipated market trends across the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) to End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) spectrum, preparing competitive market analyses and modeling to support future intra-company business lines. Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs strategic market research, analysis and reporting relative to future expansion/or contraction of business lines across the Fresenius NA books of business, including the financial analysis related to the impact to the company’s growth, financial and strategic goals.

Utilizes data obtained from internal resources including finance, business development, managed care, the medical office and other resources for analyses regarding market conditions and business line conditions within the company.

Obtains and analyzes external data from purchased research databases and industry surveys to identify and research prospective strategic opportunities and initiatives to support the growth of the company.

Models data initially utilizing existing analysis templates and tools refining and augmenting the tools and templates as needed for the particular analysis.

May design and develop new analytic and modeling tools for analyses regarding new and previously unexplored business lines and areas.

Collaborates with the Sr. Analyst Market Intelligence Analytics with the management of assigned project portfolios or projects resulting from own research regarding additional strategic growth opportunities to develop lines of business.

Performs analysis of assigned projects identifying new opportunities, determining if there is a viable strategy, and coordinating the relevant research and analysis to assess the viability of the proposition.

Responsible for the production of quarterly performance analysis for the assigned business line projects , focused on identifying drivers, risks and opportunities, correlations and contributions to performance.

Analyzes key performance indices to identify performance trends of projects and accuracy of projections and key assumptions used in forecasting models.

Creates regression analyses to ascertain correlations between strong performance and influences to performance

Develops dynamic forecast models to allow outputs to be computed, based on multi-dimension scenario inputs.

Contributes to the evaluation of the effectiveness of implemented strategic initiatives proposed by Market Analytics team to determine if the ROI has been delivered and making recommendations, regarding modification or cessation as appropriate relative to the identified market issues.

Develops communication strategies to apprise key business line management of the underlying issues and trends contributing to the positive, neutral or negative performance outcomes, making recommendations for performance improvements

Develops analysis and models data to identify opportunities and threats to future business lines

Presents analyses including conclusions and recommendations regarding initiatives and processes to Market Analytics management, business owner/s, stakeholders and pertinent senior management teams.

Utilizes expertise to execute on ad hoc market requests for advanced financial analysis and modeling for the various intra-company management teams to assist with financial, market and strategic opportunities and decisions.

Actively engages with various intra-company management teams to create growth plans and targets identified as part of the business expansion initiatives, in alignment with the corporate fiscal and growth expectations.

Executes on ad hoc requests for the development of presentations containing complex issues related to historic and projected market data serving as the basis for SWOT analysis, risk assessment and strategic business planning.

Assists with transforming research of industry and governmental trends (relative to the CKD to ESRD spectrum) into tangible business opportunities that support the strategic growth initiatives across intra-company lines of business.

Develops mapping for various market development activities pertaining to strategic planning for territory specific areas.

Conducts analysis on governmental or contractual issues that may impact/restrict future business lines. Presents findings via illustrative maps, assumptions, recommendations and/or conclusions with impacted areas to the management teams across the intra-company business lines.

Analyzes standard departmental reports to assess the effectiveness of the information and identify opportunities for enhancements to the data, making recommendations to bring value to the information.

Responsible for the updates and management of inputs to the Business Development Datamart. Ensures internal and external data is migrated, timely and accurately to support market intelligence analytics and to communicate strategic initiative performance.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in business and/or finance

Possession or active pursuit of advance degree, such as MBA, preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

2-4 years in market research and analysis, competitive analysis, business development or financial analysis. Healthcare industry experience beneficial.

Familiarity with corporate financial concepts, competitive dynamics, market structure of dialysis and/or healthcare industry and government influence on market trends.

Advanced analytical skills.

Demonstrated initiative at translating concepts and ideas into concrete deliverables

Strategic design skills preferred.

Demonstrated critical thinking in complex situations with an ability to synthesize ambiguous data into concrete insights

Proficiency with PC-based software such as MS Access, Map Point, Excel and PowerPoint.

Must be flexible to maintain focus and productivity in an environment of frequently changing priorities and tasks.

Must have excellent verbal and written communications skill
