Position Purpose:The Safety Manager is responsible for all safety programs in the facility entire safety programs, including transportation safety, fleet shop, warehouse services, and office safety systems. The individual hired for this position will, above all, be the leader responsible for developing a safety culture. This position will be responsible for systems and activities to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status; assist in the training and development for CMV operators; coordinate and manage the accident management process; conduct audits and inspections of the transportation safety management process; and monitor metrics and trends reflecting performance; responsible for office safety systems. Additionally, this position will be responsible to keep abreast of industry safety standards and to the interface with our Corporate Safety team and the company’s third-party insurance carriers.Responsibilities

Create and deliver a culture of safety across the facility.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety. This would include, but is not limited to, DOT, FMCSR, and OSHA.

Lead the Accident Management process including the reporting, investigation and management of workplace accidents and auto liability incidents.

Conduct safety training for all new hires, with a focus on Transportation and Warehouse associates.

Collaborate with the Warehouse and Transportation management team to create an environment of safety within the Operations team.

Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions and implement follow-up assessments. Audit customer locations to ensure a safe work environment for delivery drivers.

Create safety programs that increase awareness and adherence to safe behaviors for our Warehouse Associates and Delivery Drivers. These programs should Decrease “lost days from work” and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) recordable incidents.

Work with our third-party insurance provider to manage worker’s compensation and liability claims for best results.

Provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers/vendors and coworkers. Improve safety policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
