Geothermal Project ManagerPOSITION SUMMARY:The Geothermal Project Manager is responsible for managing and advancing geothermal projects including the client geothermal demonstration pilot project over its three year lifecycle. The role will involve assisting the Director of Clean Technologies to successfully bring geothermal projects, including the geothermal demonstration pilot project, online and assess the feasibility of projects as a business line for our client. The Geothermal Project Manager will be managing the budget for the design and construction projects, dedicated staffing, consultants, contractors and associated reporting. The Geothermal Project Manager would be expected to collaborate with the Gas Business Unit as well as other groups across the company to bring projects to fruition.ACCOUNTABILITIES - PRIMARY DUTIES:Project Manager Level
- Manages the design and construction oversight for the geothermal projects, starting with a demonstration pilot, including the efforts of any third-party contractor(s)
- Develops special bids in conjunction with other departments (i.e., Procurement) for projects. Assist in determining the best location of projects and developing and maintaining timelines and budgets. Responsible for developing project scope, reviewing bids and making recommendations to the Director regarding the selection of contractors
- Plans and schedules the project in conjunction with the necessary groups within Engineering and Field Operations to develop timelines and ensure appropriate availability of resources, as needed.
- Supervises the projects under construction in the field
- Manages the oversight of the geothermal demonstration pilot's operation and maintenance for the duration of the pilot and potentially other geothermal projects.
- Reviews and approves all invoices and change orders that may occur on the project
- Assists in the collection and review of the geothermal projects' data for inclusion in reporting
- Assists in development of reports that are required for the MA Department of Public Utilities and other agencies, which can include projections, timelines, contractor selections, etc.
- Represents Gas at public meetings, regulatory hearings. town hall meetings and any special meetings that may occur
- Assists as needed for the project's required stakeholder outreach meetings and discussions
- Can work directly with customers as needed as part of the pilot project or other projects
- Ensures projects are conducted in a manner consistent with the Company's safety and procurement policies and programs
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Business Administration, Accounting or the equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of related natural gas distribution or other utility experience and / or general construction experience is required
- Knowledge of geothermal and/or distribution systems, gas construction standards and procedures preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
- Project management experience required
- Ability to develop and present reports within the organization
- Strong computer and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally
