- Independently execute application design, computer systems analysis, development, testing, and deployment of software systems
- Effectively split your time between the execution/development of software systems and the training and development of junior engineers
- Work daily with a dedicated international team of expert developers
- Work in a hybrid model, ideally you live on the East Coast so are able to travel to the office for quarterly meetings
- Analyze and design software for existing on premise and cloud-based applications and deliver laboratory workflow solutions to our scientists using emerging cloud technologies and off-the-shelf applications
- using a software development lifecycle based on agile principles
- Apply analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex technical information and problems using advanced programming and software design principles and methods
- Identify technical risk, potential impact, and mitigation strategies for software under active development
- Form strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across multiple business functions to determine which systems to design and enhance in order to meet business goals and objectives
- Work closely with project managers and provide technical leadership and solution architecture for the team
- Collaborate with other architects and platform owners within CST to ensure a maintainable, resilient and flexible environment at CST through the effective use of technology
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, plus 8 years of experience OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years of experience
- 5+ years of experience with Java/Python or another high-level programming language
- 3-5 years of SQL and/or experience with cloud-based applications/DevOps
- Experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile philosophy and scrum methodologies
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a strong focus on customer service
- Excitement about scientific workflow solutions. Prior experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), electronic notebooks (ELN) and scientific data management systems (SDMS) is a plus.
