We seek to create a professional and authentic environment of joy, excellence, care, and community where educators can make long-term transformative outcomes for students.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESClassroom ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged every dayFoster a positive and safe learning environmentPrepare and internalize rigorous and engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources, and intellectual preparation toolsWhen applicable, may be asked to create and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessmentsSet specific, ambitious growth goals with all students and identify and leverage all necessary resources to ensure they meet themInnovate on best practices to execute engaging, differentiated instruction at a level rigorous for all studentsImplement aligned school-wide or grade-level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategiesRegularly analyze student work and academic data to modify lessons, refine curricula, and inform instructional practiceMaintain accurate, up-to-date student grades/records and initiate strong lines of communication with students and their families regularly regarding students’ growth and progressSchool and Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic yearTake ownership for the development of your craft seeking and implementing feedback from your coach and collaborating with teammates within and beyond school-designed structuresPerform assigned duties including (but not limited to) classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal dutiesDevelop strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent phone calls, texts, and/or emails with caregivers Be willing to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to accountability, change, and improvementCollaborate with grade level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade-wide systems, sharing responsibility for all studentsDependable attendance according to our school calendar, initiating proactive communication when attendance barriers ariseRegional ResponsibilitiesEmbody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self-awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productivelyObtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements with financial support from KIPP MA within the first year of employment in addition to free study support (please review this doc to see requirements)Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as requiredKIPP MA teachers are supported in their demanding work by experienced and dedicated leadership and staff who have themselves proven successful in the teaching role. Our leaders maintain consistent school-wide systems and procedures - academic, behavioral, cultural, logistical - designed to permit teachers to do their best work. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that teachers will engage in to help promote a positive and calm learning environment and culture.
