About Tanglewood In 1940, the Berkshire Music Center (now the Tanglewood
Music Center) began its operations. Home to the famous Boston Symphony
Orchestra, and the site of one of the world's best-known music
festivals, Tanglewood hosts the Festival of Contemporary Music, along
with many other events including concerts of various genres from jazz to
pop. Today, Tanglewood annually draws over 350,000 visitors. Each season
offers not only a vast quantity of music, but also a vast range of
musical forms and styles, all of it presented with a regard for artistic
excellence that makes the festival unique. About the Role The Boston
Symphony Orchestra is seeking driven individuals to join the Event
Services team at Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) as seasonal Event Set Up
Assistants. Venue and Event Services provide the necessary equipment,
set up, and services to ensure that events at Tanglewood are successful,
and are a reflection of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's standards. Work
is performed in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings and in all
types of weather conditions. These conditions can change quickly and
require a range of apparel to maintain comfort and protection. Job
Responsibilities - Set up/breakdown of all events on Tanglewood Grounds,
including dining service, galas, weddings, backstage catering, private
parties, internal events, Yoga on the lawn and various other
activities. - Move, set up, and store tables and chairs, garbage
barrels, pop-up tent canopies, audio and video equipment, and other
pieces of equipment. - Breakdown / move set ups as needed during events
based on client needs. - Drive utility carts for the transport of
equipment and passenger carts for guests. Required Education and
Experience Requirements - Must be 18 years or older. - Detail oriented
and conscientious. - Able to work a flexible schedule. - Must be
available weekends; some overtime required. - Driver's license and
knowledge of driving laws. - Housing not provided. Physical
Requirements - Lifting and carrying objects of varying weight (50-100
lbs.). - Standing or walking (sometimes backwards) for extended
periods. - Sitting for durations. - Reaching overhead, bending,
kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, pushing or pulling heavy items. -
Fine motor skills (hand dexterity). - Visual acuity (near and far
vision) and hearing ability depending on the job needs. The BSO is an
