Sr Software Engineer II - Optimization/AI/ML

Help reimagine Staples systems from the ground up and design the next generation Generative AI and AI/ML/NLP applications. Develop machine intelligence algorithms and solutions including high-level architecture designs, code/model development, evaluation, and operationalizing solutions at scale. Partner with a team Software, Data, ML, and Applied engineers for building high performing applications that interact with large scale distributed systems. Incubate ideas, prototype, develop, and productionize machine learning applications. Writing software programs, test for quality and push model to cloud for production. Fetch big data related to Staples systems, analyze, detect patterns, and build models using data. Instill best practices related to software engineering and machine learning engineering problems. Shape next generation technology at Staples by defining the future roadmap for ongoing work.What you’ll be doing:

Build Generative AI based Staples next generation machine intelligence platform.

Ideate, prototype, productionize cross reference solution for bid processing.

Lead development of GenAI/ML enabled customer service intelligence solution.

In all phases of software development including concept, design, prototyping, and production release adhering to industry best DevOps/MLOps practices.

Analyze large volume data (product catalog, customer service, enterprise workflow) to automate complex event processing via machine learning and Generative AI.

Diagnostic, debugging, and troubleshooting skills to fix and improve existing systems.

Building applications on Azure with attention to security, cost, and data sensitivity

What you bring to the table:

Experience in designing/building/improving ML engineering systems

Understanding full software development life cycle and adhering to industry best DevOps/MLOps.

Development of algorithms, design, build, and maintain systems that deals with streaming big data for analytics and Machine learning.

Self-driven, technical leader/architect who has the tenacity to solve hard, challenging, data/compute intensive problems.

Building forward looking ML solutions despite ambiguous/evolving problem requirements.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

14+ years of experience in designing/building/improving ML engineering systems

Hands-on experience in designing and implementing highly reliable, fault-tolerant distributed ML applications with focus on ML Operations and CI/CD.

Prior experience in all phases of software development including concept, design, prototyping, and production release adhering to industry best DevOps/MLOps.

Development of algorithms, design, build, and maintain systems that deals with streaming big data for analytics and Machine learning.

Self-driven, technical leader/architect who has the tenacity to solve hard, challenging, data/compute intensive problems.

Solid experience in building forward looking ML solutions

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications

Nice to have industry experience in ecommerce, retail environment
