The Business Manager’s primary responsibilities in the Service Center are budget management, personnel, reporting and data management. This position will assist the Director with the production of necessary financial assessments and reports and will ensure that departments observe the University fiscal guidelines.The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Service Center: supervises the Fiscal Assistant, manages the department facilities; and works with Director and Fiscal Specialist on the budgets for all 9 departments, including reporting, monitoring, forecasting, and analysis on multiple operating, and revenue, accounts. The Business Manager oversees the UMM Commerce Center for all financial deposits to Transact. The Business Manager exercises discretion and judgment with respect to all administrative and financial matters within the Division, in consultation with the Director, reviewing, developing, and implementing procedures for the Service Center and the Division. This position serves as a key role for the fiscal and procurement operations of the Service Center by providing the necessary data and statistics in the support of sound business decisions, strategic planning, and initiatives.The Business Manager functions as a liaison between UM&M departments and Central Administration offices and external vendors. This position is responsible for supporting departments by providing accurate and timely financial– both from an input as well as an output perspective.Additionally, the Business Manager is responsible for monitoring and addressing issues of technology and working with the Director in determining and developing technology to meet the needs of the Division.Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $67,100 to $83,900; salary commensurate with relevant experience.Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Trained in Transact Commerce Management.

Proficient knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials or a comparable package; ability to create and manage PeopleSoft reports.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Proficiency in Filemaker Pro and Apex.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to understand and explain complex financial concepts to non-financial users.

Ability to communicate across multiple audiences.

Active listening skills, ability to facilitate user discussions and determine customer needs.

Quantitative and analytical skills.

Ability to create, interpret and manage spreadsheets.

Knowledge of the University's purchasing policies and procedures.

An understanding of grant accounting and regulations.

Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Expertise with fiscal accounting system.

Peoplesoft power user

Some knowledge of employment policies and procedures.

Excellent supervisory and communication skills.

Functional understanding of University administrative systems and campus-wide technologies.

Knowledgeable about internet programming and proven ability to keep current with all technology changes.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally as part of a diverse team.

Self-motivated and proven ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritize, set expectations and manage workflow.

Ability to manage and complete short projects timely and efficiently.
