Our world-leading research and impact helps individuals, organizations, corporations, communities, and nations understand the realities of climate change, recognize the impact on our planet, and embrace the urgent action needed to safeguard the future of life on Earth.Join Woodwell Climate’s Information Systems & Technology team as our Director of Information Systems (IS) to direct the strategy, implement and manage information systems and equipment in accordance with organizational policies and goals. As a member of the IS team within our Operations department, you will manage the IS team, review and revise existing strategy and internal procedures and guidelines to diagnose and resolve technical issues across different systems and technologies, including hardware, software, and networks. Develop and manage a cybersecurity program. Lead a strong team supporting a hybrid working environment and be part of an exciting, growing organization with a critical mission.Responsibilities: Manages computer, network, telecommunication and information systems for the CenterCreates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructureAnalyzes high-level business needs and researches new technologies to identify and select IT hardware and software products to support internal business processes. Monitors and assesses performance of the department including direct reports. Manages cloud resources including: AWS, G Suite, Google Cloud, Office 365, Azure, Dropbox, Skype, Raiser's Edge, Zoom and CrashPlanPlans and designs our organization's network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks and monitor network performance Oversees IS projects through their entire lifecycle to ensure completion is on-time and within budget and provides technical guidance to resolve complex issuesManages team of IS Analysts Collaborate with leaders and managers across our science/research and administration/operation teamsReport directly to the Chief Operations OfficerMust have the following skills, abilities and knowledge:Solid track record of managing an IS/IT teams along and ability to provide and prioritize mentorshipDeep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental functionAbility to evaluate methodologies, processes, and specifications of Woodwell Climate's IT systems to develop an IT strategy and roadmap and ensure computer equipment, hardware, and software operate in alignment with organizational needs and standardsExperience managing cloud resources and tools Ability to performing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is neededExperience and broad knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Desktops, Server and Active Directory) and Apple system platform technology.Knowledge of malware/antivirus application configuration and management as well as backup and recovery solutions.Knowledge of IT network infrastructure components and the various related technologies, such as switches, routers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wirelessStrong communication skills (verbal,written and interpersonal)Working knowledge of virtualization; VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V preferredTechnical certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or similar preferredQualifications:5+ years of relevant managerial experience10 + years of relevant experience within IS/ITBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or quantitative technical fieldPhysical Requirements:In the office:Ability to tolerate sustained periods of walking, standing, sittingAbility to lift 25 poundsAbility to communicateAbility to kneel, bend, and carry itemsAbility to use phone and computersRepetitive movementsAir, train, vehicle travel to attend meetings/eventIn the field, the physical requirements of this role include:Air, train, vehicle travel to access field locationsDriving a vehicle or ATV to access field locationsWalking, hiking, climbing to access field locationsPaddling, canoeing to access field locationsStanding and sitting for sustained periodsFrequent bending, squatting, and kneelingReaching overheadClimbing laddersUse of manual and power tools including shovels, saws, drills, and hammersAbility to lift up to 25lbs up to 10 times/dayAbility to carry up to 25lbs up to 10 times/dayAbility to push/pull up to 25lbs up to 10 times/dayApplication review will begin ongoingDesired Start Date: November 2024Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, the annual salary range is $130,000 + dependent on qualifications/experience.
