The Pool Attendant/Qualified Swimmer position serves a variety of tasks that support the maintenance, operation, and cleanliness of the Captain Gosnold Village Pool. Reporting to the Pool Manager, the Attendant will work to ensure pool users have an enjoyable and safe experience and keep the pool area clean and organized and the equipment cared for.

This is a part-time, seasonal engagement expected to last from mid-June through Labor Day. The work schedule for this position will include nonstandard hours and requires the ability to work holidays and weekends. The pool will open no earlier than 10:00 AM and will close no later than 7:00 PM and will be closed during inclement weather. Compensation for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hour, depending on experience and availability.

REQUIRMENTS AND ABILITIES:

Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Exhibit good verbal and written communication, and knowledge of basic math. Customer service, time management and organizational skills necessary.

Consistent professional appearance and pleasant demeanor.

Physically fit, good swimming abilities, and able to perform physical labor such as moving and lifting furniture, equipment, chemicals, and removing a person from the pool.

A current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certificate with training in child, adult, and pediatric CPR is required. (Must have certification prior to start date. Captain Gosnold Village will reimburse up to $75 for this certification along with final compensation, once the pool has closed for the season. Pool attendant must complete the pool season schedule to be eligible for reimbursement.)

Familiarity with life-saving equipment, including rescue procedures and administering first aid. Knowledge of pool equipment and safety measures.

Pass the swimming test:

Swim following 2 lengths of the pool.

Tread water for 5 minutes.

Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, talk and hear; use their hands to operate a phone; and reach with their hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50+ pounds.
