Our beverage program emphasizes boutique, natural wines and seamless pairings to elevate the guest experience.

As part of our hospitality group, which includes Dunn & Sons Wine, a boutique wine shop in Yarmouth Port, and an upcoming wine bar set to open in May 2025, we are seeking a dedicated Sommelier to join our team. This role will play a vital part in ensuring our wine program is represented with excellence during service.

Position Overview:

The Sommelier will be the primary wine presence on the floor during service, assisting guests with their wine selections and enhancing the overall dining experience. While our Wine Director will curate the wine list and establish systems and protocols, this role will ensure these standards are maintained and consistently executed. The Sommelier will work closely with the Wine Director, collaborating to support staff education, inventory management, and system implementation while focusing on delivering exceptional wine service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the lead wine representative on the dining room floor during service, assisting guests with wine selections and pairings to enhance their meal experience.

Maintain and implement wine service protocols and systems established by the Wine Director, ensuring consistency and excellence.

Educate guests about the wine program, sharing knowledge about boutique producers, natural wines, and pairings.

Provide ongoing training and support to the front-of-house team, reinforcing wine knowledge and service standards.

Collaborate with the Wine Director to monitor and maintain inventory, manage the wine cellar, and ensure proper storage and organization.

Participate in special wine-related events, such as tastings and pairing dinners, representing The Pheasant’s wine program.

Act as a liaison between the wine program and guests, receiving feedback and relaying insights to the Wine Director.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a sommelier or wine-focused role within a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.

Certification from an accredited wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, etc.) preferred.

Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and service techniques, with a particular emphasis on natural and sustainable wines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for hospitality and guest engagement.

Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting and maintaining systems established by the Wine Director.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

What We Offer:

Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.

A dynamic and supportive work environment within a growing hospitality group.

Collaborative opportunities with Dunn & Sons Wine and the upcoming wine bar.

Discounts on dining and retail offerings.

Ongoing professional development and support for further wine education.
